In immune diseases associated with hypersensitivities study. Degranulation of IL-4 production have been implicated by one earlier studies. We recently have been interested in analyzing the abnormal expression of molecules involved in the IL-4 signal transduction system in the immune disease. Results on the IL-4 degranulation in the allergic disease using IL-4 bioassay, Northern blot and RT-PCR technique are presented and the integration of such findings into our present understanding of IL-4/IgE network is discussed. Together our data collectively and strongly suggest that IL-4R and Fc¥åRII exhibit a highly coordinated regulation, both utilize common signal transduction mechanisms by IL-4, anti-CD40, or IFN-¥ã, and finally both receptors are up-regulated and may thus be involved in IgE-mediate immune disease.
